REVIEW: Telltale ft. Honey Revenge - “COBAIN” Single
Virginia’s pop punk outfit Telltale recently joined forces with Cali newcomers, Honey Revenge, for an emotionally & sonically intense single regarding adolescent social issues, such as homelessness, as the following music video alludes.
Telltale shares: “The music industry likes to romanticize this story of “the come-up,” where an artist makes great music because they’ve lived through hardship. It doesn’t have to be like that; no one should have to not know where they’re going to sleep tonight.” The single, “COBAIN,” contains a certain duality that’s also portrayed in the music video; there’s the element of comfort & singing along with your friends and then the sinking feeling of overwhelming dread by the end of the day. It also emphasizes the (very real) cliché: you don’t know what someone’s going through.
“Nirvana may have been an overnight success, but this isn’t the 90s anymore.” Trying to excel as a fully self-supported artist, especially in the first stages of your career, can be extremely difficult these days. Telltale sheds a light on that gritty & shitty parts of taking on the world by yourself with limited resources. So, not only is “COBAIN” an insanely catchy rock track, but also highlights the crucial issue among millions of young adults. StandUpForKids is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness. These artists, & us here at Noisescape, urge you to support the cause in any way you can (more information below).
