REVIEW: poutyface - “Cherry Picking” Single
Californian firecracker, poutyface, just released her first single of the year titled “Cherry Picking.” This gritty rock anthem follows her bundle of releases late last year including “Boys Will Be Boys” & “God Complex.” poutyface rides the waves of the mainstream pop punk resurgence but tailors it into her own unapologetically brash style.
Olivia Knight (poutyface) shares the inspiration behind the single. “’Cherry Picking’ is about being used by someone for their own personal validation. I’ve had relationships and friendships where I gave way too much. This song feels like spinning out. It’s about losing your mind trying to keep someone around who isn’t concerned with anyone but themselves… the ones who pick off your energy whenever the fruit looks ripe enough to feed them.” And the track emulates just that— losing your mind. It definitely lends itself as one of those songs that you scream along to while flailing around in your bedroom. Or better yet, at a show… what a coincidence that poutyface happens to be on tour right now with Yungblud. More information on those dates below.
