SHOW REVIEW: Poppy - Santa Ana, CA (3/10/22)

The genre-defying enigma, Poppy, kicked off her Never Find My Place tour on March 8th in Sacramento. When she stopped by Santa Ana on March 10th, we were graced with the opportunity to experience the mystifying artist’s performance for ourselves. While the set was certainly comprehensive of Poppy’s discography, it was also leant to rightfully showcase her latest projects, Flux (2021) and I Disagree (2020). This included metal-influenced tracks like “BLOODMONEY” & “Concrete,” to a slow-burn alternative groove like “Never Find My Place,” that inspired the tour’s name. No matter the tempo of the track, the audience’s energy never ceased. Poppy made the psychedelic stage setup her own playground as she so naturally took control of it, experimenting with the electric guitar & synths throughout the show. There’s always an element of unpredictability when it comes to the essence of Poppy, which only makes her live performances that much more captivating.
