REVIEW: VEAUX - “Moonlight Sugar” Single

Nashville based group VEAUX delivers their highly anticipated first single of the year. The alternative pop/R&B group consisting of members Aaron Wagner, Andrew Black and Dominic Wagner are releasing this track in an ongoing series titled “Love Songs for the Apocalypse.”

“Moonlight Sugar” is the group’s first single release since 2020 when they dropped their three song EP titled Still Awake. Their newest single take a more indie pop/rock approach compared to some of their previous synth heavy pop releases.

According to the band, this series “explores what it is to have love in the darkest of times.” The track opens with a mellow hook that instantly engages the listener before quickly switching tone to an indie rock type verse featuring a bright and breathy vocal. The verses give way to a euphonic chorus that maintains a notable and flowing guitar part with what the band refers to as “ready to sing melodies.” Lyrically the song speaks to savoring time with a romantic partner and wanting more of them in the moment. A sentiment that resonates with the songs structure and allows for a fully immersive listening experience.

VEAUX will be releasing one to two songs from their project “Love Songs for the Apocalypse”  every six weeks and begin touring in February.
