REVIEW: quinnie - “itch” Single

The latest single from New Jersey solo artist, quinnie, is a delicate, introspective ballad titled, “itch.” quinnie has become known as an artist who unabashedly shares personal experiences through music as a form of catharsis. This single is a prime example of this display of vulnerability as she opens up about her trepidation surrounding love.

“What if I never scratched another
Itch for the rest of my life?
Would I die satisfied
Knowing it could always get better than this?”

Her track, “touch tank,” cultivated an impressive amount of attention on TikTok over the summer before it was even officially released. Since then, fans have been latched onto each following release knowing it will surely scratch that itch. Prior to the release of “itch,” quinnie posted a TikTok promoting its impending drop with some personal background written in text:

this song is about how i used to be scared of falling in love because i enjoy longing for things and people. found out you’ll know u really love somebody if loving them feels even better than wanting them.

With vague elements of Elliott Smith-esque layered vocals & the structure style of folk artist Field Medic, quinnie still manages to carve out her own individual sound in each track; inevitably evolving into a trademark sound that’ll become well-known amongst other indie artists.
