Embark On Pry’s Trip to “Heaven”

The NYC duo Pry is comprised of the creative minds Simeon Beardsley & Amara Bush. They released their lead single “Tether You” last month as a grand introduction to a new era with thunderous gritty guitars. This following single, “Heaven,” exemplifies the range the duo is capable of as they emulate a more tender 80s synth atmosphere.

“This is the first song we rehearsed with a live band. It is a favorite part of the album for its simplicity, structure, and juxtaposition to the other tracks, and even to itself, from beginning to end,” say Pry. “The lyrics are reflective of living in a routine that feels like it necessitates yet simultaneously limits your access to ‘escape’ in any meaningful way. So we take what we can get.”

“Heaven” is a perfect track to transition into the spring season with as blasting it with the windows down in the car would certainly heighten the listening experience. The striking electric guitar riffs integrated with the ethereal reverbs of the acoustic guitar evidently create that “heaven-like” aura. With this release also came big news— a debut album, Wrapped In Plastic, to be dropped on May 29th. To celebrate, they will also be hosting a special NYC album-release show on May 31st with Cal Fish & Crate at Night Club 101. You can buy tickets for that here.
