REVIEW: Piper Page - “Do You Want Me Or Not?” Single
New York’s rising pop/R&B star, Piper Page, is cutting right to the chase with her latest single: “Do You Want Me Or Not?” A situation most of us have been faced with— the uncertainty of where we stand in a relationship. Page uses an upbeat rhythm & her rich vocals to construct the most fun-loving confrontation song we’ve ever heard.
Whether it be a new flame or an inconsistent situation-ship, most of us have dealt with the aggravating mixed signals. Piper Page puts a delightful pop twist in “Do You Want Me Or Not?,” navigating her own relationship. Layered with strings & harmonious backing vocals, this single is not your average pop song as it meticulously blends elements of R&B and soul. Her vocal runs in the chorus transcend the number to the dulcet stylings reminiscent of Alicia Keys or Ella Mai. Her lyrics also share the visceral frustration of not knowing where you stand; “Tired of the back and forth / Pickin’ and choosin’ when I’m yours.”
“I spent a lot of time confused on whether I was supposed to be exclusive with someone or not. After being ghosted for 7 weeks, I’d had enough, decided to move on, and quit asking “Do you want me or not?” I had my answer, then I wrote this song (and then he came back).” — Piper Page
Piper Page’s debut album, Based on True Events, is due to release next month.
