REVIEW: M.A.G.S. - “Elephant” Single

After establishing a name for himself as an emerging talent in the indie/alt-rock music scene, Elliott Douglas, more widely known as M.A.G.S., returns with his new single “Elephant.” The song has a satisfying balance of both gritty and smoother sounds, seamlessly blurring the lines of chaos and calmness.

“I've been down on my knees

waiting for the sun to kiss my face

but it's not time

I'll inquire for a while

then get right back on the elephant

are you even listening”

M.A.G.S. uses “Elephant” to beautifully sum up what it can feel like to have ADHD. Whether it’s having a plethora of thoughts and emotions running all at once or putting in the extra effort to mindfully stay on track, the song mimics the feeling of trying to navigate being mentally pulled into a million different directions. Even better, it does so using whimsical and surreal imagery which showcases M.A.G.S.’ true artistry. It’s a song that has the ability to help listeners feel less alone.

“Elephant”’s hard yet dynamic guitar, drums, and vocals showcase the evolution of M.A.G.S.’ true style over the years. This song’s authenticity puts M.A.G.S. at a strong starting point for 2023.
