REVIEW: Fox Teeth - “Stay Here” Single
Mixing together the traditions of emo with melodic guitar riffs that make the listener feel as though they’re driving down the street in the rain, Fox Teeth’s newest single “Stay Here” is a staple release for this winter. Originally starting as a solo project by Sawyer Rich, parodying their favorite bands in 2018, they embody the combination of twinkle emo and shoegaze. Now, the band has the accompaniment of Andrew Romanowski on drums, enhancing the authentic Fox Teeth grit.
This track truly reflects their growth as a band and has a chorus that sticks in the listener’s head for days. This single feels melancholic, atmospheric, and nostalgic, all while still having an upbeat tone through its instrumentation.
“Why can’t you admit, you’re running away
from all of it, I can’t make you stay here
but I hope you stay here
and when you say it’s fine, that you had just
lost track of the time, I can’t make you stay here
I can’t make you stay here”
Rich states that “it’s not rare to mature through your career as a musician, but it’s not easy to shape that maturity into something larger. Through the Blue [their impending album] is the most reflective of our sound and growth as a band, and I couldn’t be more excited to show that to the world. If you’re looking for a soundtrack into early adulthood, we’ve got you covered.”
Fox Teeth will be releasing their Sophomore LP, Through the Blue, via Refresh Records this spring.
