REVIEW: Lydia the Bard - “Afraid of Quiet” Single

Lydia the Bard has seen rapid and immense growth as an artist over the last three years. Amassing over 400,000 subscribers on YouTube from her indie-folk song covers, Lydia is now ready to release her debut EP into the world. The EP’s standout track, “Afraid of Quiet,” is a genuine and raw song about her struggles with anxiety and finding peace. Lydia's powerful voice and storytelling skills shine in this song, which she wrote with her music partner, Ben Tomalin.

“Afraid of Quiet” features fast-paced lyrics and catchy melodies, talking about her need to always be in control and her difficulty relaxing because of anxiety. It’s honest, deep, and relatable. The idea for “Afraid of Quiet” started with a riff from Ben that sat unused for two years. After a stressful morning, Lydia found inspiration and turned the riff into this amazing song.

Beyond “Afraid of Quiet,” the EP will no doubt showcase Lydia's versatility as an artist, blending different musical styles and themes. The song show’s what life is like from her own perspective, making a compelling listen from start to finish.
