CHOOSE YR WEAPON ignites nostalgic spark with a cover from ‘Freaky Friday’
East Coast newcomers, CHOOSE YR WEAPON, made a grand entrance into the rock scene with their first ever release as a group as they covered a fan-favorite track from the 2003 Disney film Freaky Friday. If you remember (or if you’re like me & can’t ever forget), you’ll recall the main character played by Lindsay Lohan is in a rock band herself, called Pink Slip. Although, they’re a fictitious group created for the film’s plot, the hit song that Jamie Lee Curtis/Lindsay Lohan shred on stage is the iconic: “Take Me Away.” CHOOSE YR WEAPON found a way to make this cult-classic single their own while emulating that early-2000’s sound we all love.
CHOOSE YR WEAPON’s cover of “Take Me Away” is just as addicting as the original as it conserves that authentic garage band grit that constructed the identity of Pink Slip. The members of CHOOSE YR WEAPON also collected footage from friends & fans doing various autumnal activities to create a compilation of blissful entertainment with their cover as the soundtrack. From riding horses to eating pumpkin guts, it’s a necessity to watch the video as you sing along in order to achieve the full warm-and-fuzzy experience.
