REVIEW: Yet To Bloom - “Play It Back” Single

Boston-based pop-punk band Yet To Bloom is on the rise and their newest single is out now! With the perfect medley of classic pop-punk and today’s indie rock, the song instantly becomes the ballad of summer’s end. It's punchy yet light, drums grounding you as the vocals push you off your feet, ready to dance. It's the opening sequence to your favorite early 2000’s teen movies— it’s “Play It Back.”

The energy of this song is clear from the start, guitars leading you into vocals that draw you right in. The artist sings “I’m done feeling stuck, I’ll kick the door open / Whatever it takes to feel I’m in control again.” The song was never meant to hold your hand and ease you in, but push you right into the middle of it. Lead vocalist Claire Hudson expands on this, explaining that “Play It Back” was written as a “wake up call…to learn to live to live in the moment.” From its honest lyrics to striking instrumentals, the song not only brings you into the moment, but speaks to a struggle many experience. “My energy’s sucked from going through motions / When all that I want is to live in the moment.”

The band’s members — Claire Hudson (vocals/guitar), Ray Lee (guitar), and Billie Bentil (bass) — bring everything they have and more to the track, constantly keeping you on your toes and undoubtedly in the moment.
