REVIEW: Orion Sun - “dirty dancer” Single
Based in Philadelphia, Orion Sun is an artist you really don’t want to miss out on. She has a pretty extensive discography and loving fan base considering she started releasing music on Spotify in 2017. Her most recent single “dirty dancer” is beautiful and tender as she speaks about crushing on someone, but thinking you’re not good enough for them.

“You got me waiting at the corner / waiting at the red light / waiting at the crosswalk / thinking of you”
The feeling of constantly wanting that one person, to notice you, speak to you, smile at you is so overwhelming. You can’t stop thinking about them, it’s all you do. You want the feelings to stop, but at the same time the excitement of them possibly liking you back is what keeps it going.
“Let’s just focus on this / I just want to be the one you want / to move with / want to groove with.”
She sings about longing for the person you can’t stop thinking about and it’s heart-wrenching. I think most people have had an experience like this at some point in their life. So to hear it sung in the way she does, makes it even more bittersweet. The beat is soft, her voice is soothing and it’s an all so familiar feeling you get while listening. “dirty dancer” is heart-breaking, exhilarating, and lonely. It gives you every feeling you’ve ever had while crushing on someone, her hurt and longing sits deep in your stomach.
Released with a beautifully shot music video, directed by Courtney Loo, the soft-spoken lyrics go well with the cinematography of the video. Every scene is captivating; ever color, movement, and prop are thought out and presented in a way to make us feel the way the artist is feeling. While this song was released last month, her newest EP Getaway was released this month, premiering 6 heavenly songs including “dirty dancer.” The EP is a must-listen as it flows together perfectly and each song sounds just as wonderful as the next.
