REVIEW: Jordi - “odd day” Single

Singer-songwriter Jordi is inevitably bound for alternative rock greatness. The multi-instrumentalist rocker recently released a few singles alongside the announcement of her debut album, Sorry I’m Late, due to release August 4th. The leading single, “odd day,” is a somber yet gritty rock track that wonderfully juxtaposes the subsequent singles, “so easy” & “clear.”

The music video for “odd day” perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere of the track. It’s portrayed exactly how you’d picture it in your head while listening to it for the first time— moments of nostalgic reflection alongside lingering anxiety. The waves of trepidation depicted as eerie strangers dressed in robes & full-face costume masks presenting themselves in between scenes of contentment. Jordi explains herself that these feelings are what inspired the song’s creation:

“Some days just suck. This song is like a hug for when that kind of day hits you. It’s the dissociation between what’s in front of you and feeling; a sense of nostalgia that acts a warm blanket, or a lurking apprehension that sends shivers down the spine that aches to end the pain. Everything stops feeling real and time just exists.”
