pure xtc Releases New Single “Shadow”

Late last year, we spoke to Taylor Hughes, the entity of dark pop project pure xtc, about her debut EP & the development of the project as a whole. Today, pure xtc releases a tantalizing electronic single, “shadow,” the leading track from her impending Sophomore EP, Shed My Skin. This track, similar to others in her catalogue, pulls elements from 80’s synth pop but adds a contemporary flavor with dynamic mixing & vocals. The track’s quick pace reflects the incessant inner-thoughts the protagonist becomes overwhelmed in.

“When you’re so antisocial the only confrontation you have is internal, that’s “shadow” in a nutshell. The song is dedicated to my wishy-washy internal dialogue. I feel like I’m in a constant state of overthinking situations— past and current, playing out different scenarios in my head until I feel like I could explode.
