How have you guys been doing? Enjoying the time off since the spring tour with The Home Team & Broadside? Or itching to get back on the road?

We’ve been busy but good! We are enjoying the time off for sure but we’ve been doing all sorts of things to prepare for our album release since it’s our last opportunity before it drops while we’re on tour. Definitely excited to get back out there and play some new songs though!

How did it feel to finally be able to perform your songs for everyone? Was there a song that fans were especially receptive to?

It was such an incredible experience playing for everyone. It was our first tour as a band and it was wild to be in so many places we’d never been and have fans already. Our song “Rerun” had a moment online at the end of last year and the crowd got really excited when we played it every night. That meant a lot because that song was written during a time where I felt a lot of uncertainty about my music career as a whole. So to be on the road doing the damn thing and playing it was special.

Speaking of the new songs– “Are You Impressed?” & “Airhead” are two of the leading singles from the impending LP Retrovision. Both seem to express a similar frustration of trying your best but constantly falling short or never being able to properly prove yourself. Is the concept of people-pleasing still something either of you struggle with?

Oh definitely. I try to not let it get to me but it’s a struggle when your career goal is to entertain people. I have always been a bubbly, loud person but it makes it tough because I’m not everyone’s cup of tea sometimes. I’m working on being okay with that. On top of that, not everyone fully grasps what Honey Revenge is trying to accomplish yet but I think those people will come around.

What’s a track that hasn’t been released yet from the LP that you’re most looking forward to fans hearing? Is there a reason why?

I’m really excited for the fans to hear “Seeing Negative (Disappointment).” The lyrics for it kind of just flowed out so it’s very emotional and meaningful to me. I’ve been working toward some of the things this band is accomplishing for a long time and even I wonder if I’m ready for it. The song is my take on getting what you wished for and still being scared of it.

Were there any musical artist influences that inspired the album’s sound?

So many. Lots of riff based music and tons of synth pop. We always say we want to make music that people can dance and cry to. I’m curious to hear which influences of our stick out to first time listeners!

You’re in the band van… who has the aux? What’s playing?

We have a group playlist! Typically whoever’s driving has a copilot to help them stay awake and give directions. Those people queue up what they wanna hear! Our merch manager loves to play One Direction, our bassist loves hyperpop, our Tour Manager also does our sound and he plays a little bit of everything. Donny has been very into neo-soul and I am usually just trying to sleep.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

This year is about putting out our record and making sure it gets heard. Then we wanna tour, tour, tour! We’d love to head overseas and meet our European fans as well!
