What was the starting point of your career in the music industry?

My starting point was in the early 2010s, when I started uploading my own music to my Youtube channel. Lots of early content creators on Youtube liked to use my music in their videos (before copyright strikes were a thing) which really helped to spread my early music around the internet. Shortly after, I had some music uploaded to some larger promotion channels at the time and secured my first few releases on record labels, leading into starting to play shows too!

Among all the genres, what drew you to drum & bass?

I really like how broad the genre is, there’s so much variety from deeper, darker stuff, to more poppy melodic stuff, from old school sampled breaks to hyper-modern clean synthetic sounds. Having a genre defined only by a tempo range and certain drum rhythms really allows people to be very creative and express themselves in whatever way they like.

How did the collaboration with HYLIA come to be for your new track "Treading Water"?

I got put in touch with her by Mazare, who was curating the compilation. We’d never worked together before but the process of getting to know her and work with her was great!

What is your relationship like with Monstercat?

Great! They’ve always been very supportive of my sound and my ideas, and being one of the first artists on the label all the way back when it started also has been a great journey!

What are some of the most challenging times you've had to face as an electronic producer?

Periods of creative block and impostor syndrome. I think all artists from any field can relate to that!

What do you want people to take from your music?

Whatever they like really— I’m just here to express my ideas and feelings, and anyone is free to take anything from it! I just want my expression to be honest so that if the listener likes what they hear then they can appreciate something sincere.

What advice would you give to any aspiring producer, especially in the drum & bass scene?

Just grind, honestly. Try not to mimic a certain sound too heavily because it’ll be difficult to stand out. Even if people dislike what you do, just do it anyway if it’s what you personally enjoy.

What's coming next for you?

Lots more music, hopefully! Working on lots of projects right now, new singles, collaborations, remixes, bootlegs, and my first album (albeit slowly).
