If you’re a fan of Rise Against and living in Winnipeg, you already knew where you needed to be. The band delivered two sold-out shows on March 21 & 22 at the iconic Burton Cummings Theatre. After a long wait, Winnipeggers were finally able to sing their hearts out.

Opening the night was Koyo, and it threw the audience off at first. However, they turned out to be the best opening act on the bill. They played some of their tracks and got the crowd going. The audience responded well to songs like “Life is a Pill,” “Irreversible,” and “Mile a Minute.” I was surprised to see how many people were really vibing with their music, setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Next up was Destroy Boys, all the way from Sacramento. They hit the stage full of energy, hyping up the crowd while reminding everyone to stay safe in the pit. “If something happens, speak up. If someone touches you and it feels off, let others know,” they said— and honestly, hit home for a lot of people. The crowd went wild as they played some of their biggest tracks: “You Hear Yes,” “Crybaby,” “Boyfeel,” and “Fences.”

And then of course, it was Rise Against, and they did not disappoint. They kicked off the set with “Re-Education,” followed by “Nod” and “Swing Life Away.” During the fan-favorite, “Give It All,” Tim made his way to the barricade, and the crowd basically took over, holding the mic out as everyone sang along in unison. Even with Tim feeling a bit under the weather, Rise Against was in top form. Like me, some fans might’ve expected more from the new album, but honestly, the setlist still hit. Rise Against ended the evening with a series of bangers “Make It Stop,” “Behind Closed Doors” and the finale "Savior”.
