It's always exciting when a band ends a tour in your hometown, especially when that hometown is in the South.

Not long ago, bands of a certain size only played at one or two particular venues in Atlanta if they wanted to rock out. Luckily, the Austin-based band Portrayal of Guilt decided to rock out at The EARL, a venue that has hosted some pretty well-known names like Death Cab for Cutie, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, and St. Vincent.

They brought along Atlanta locals Malevich, Boston-based group The Infinity Ring and Austin neighbors Street Sects for the ride—and what a ride it was.
Malevich got the room moshing, The Infinity Ring brought Peter Steele back to life with their frontman's crooning; and Street Sects prepared the room's future energy by kicking, stomping and hopping all over the stage.

Funnily enough, even though the show wasn't advertised as sold out, it might as well have been if it genuinely wasn't. Frontman Matt King didn't even need to ask for mosh pits and walls of death, he seemed to know they would happen anyway as he played more.
Moshers tumbling into the crowd and immediately returning to the fray knocked me into the nearby speakers countless times, but don't worry, I find that to be a compliment and a testament to how much the band left everything on stage.

Portrayal of Guilt made Atlanta their own at their final tour date and in time, I think you'll wish that you had been in the room when they rolled into the city on a stormy Sunday.
