Bring Me the Horizon Close Out The Ascension Program Part 1 Tour with a Cinematic Finale in Los Angeles
Bring Me the Horizon brought an unforgettable close to The Ascension Program Part 1 Tour last Friday night at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, CA. The sold-out crowd of 18,300 fans—spanning generations—was treated to a show that was as visually stunning as it was emotionally charged.
The evening kicked off with a powerhouse lineup of openers. Amira Elfeky, who just months ago was performing in small bars, stunned the crowd with her commanding vocals and stage presence. The Plot in You kept the energy surging, igniting mosh pits and rallying the audience with their raw intensity. Motionless in White rounded out the openers perfectly, blending soaring vocals with relentless energy and creating seamless momentum heading into the headliner’s set.
As anticipation built, the arena screens lit up with a 15-minute pre-show visual sequence—a clever, 90s-style video game featuring frontman Oli Sykes as the hero battling alien invaders. The sequence was filled with witty dialogue, playful cutscenes, and a sense of theatrical world-building that perfectly set the tone for the night. When the screen finally flickered and the AI character E.V.E. took control, the crowd erupted.
The band burst onto the stage with “Darkside,” accompanied by a shower of confetti and a surge of energy that never waned. The set design resembled a gothic cathedral, complete with stained glass windows, red velvet curtains, and checkerboard floors—a striking backdrop for a night that balanced chaos and beauty. Throughout the performance, Bring Me the Horizon interwove cinematic visuals featuring recurring characters like E.V.E., continuing the tour’s overarching sci-fi narrative about eradicating a mysterious disease. The audience laughed, screamed, and sang along as the story unfolded between songs.
Oli Sykes proved once again why he’s one of rock’s most engaging frontmen. Whether pulling a fan onstage to help perform “Antivist,” sprinting along the barricade to take selfies and share hugs, or simply commanding the crowd with effortless charisma, his connection with the audience was undeniable. As the night went on, moments of visible emotion flickered across his face—not from sadness, but from sheer gratitude at the sight of a sold-out American crowd echoing every word.
The encore delivered an emotional crescendo. Sykes poured his heart into “Dig It” and “Drown” before closing with “Throne,” turning the entire arena into one unified wave of motion. Fans crouched low to the ground at his command before leaping skyward as the chorus exploded—some even rowing in the pit in a moment of pure chaos and joy.
As a newer fan experiencing Bring Me the Horizon live for the first time, I was completely captivated—from the immersive visuals and intricate lighting design to Sykes’ remarkably powerful vocals that rivaled the studio recordings. It was an experience that felt both intimate and monumental, and one that solidified why Bring Me the Horizon continues to redefine the modern rock scene.
Fans can catch The Ascension Program Part 2 Tour when it launches in 2026. Presale begins Wednesday, October 8, with general sale opening Friday, October 10.
