The show at the Canada Life Centre kicked off with Winnetka Bowling League, and honestly, they were an absolute blast to watch. From the moment they hit the stage, the drummer’s energy was contagious. He was all over the place, keeping the crowd hyped up from the get-go. The band’s indie rock sound, with catchy tracks like “Sha La La” and “This Is Life,” had everyone tapping their feet and singing along. They had such a fun vibe, and you could tell they were really enjoying themselves. The crowd was loving it, and by the time they wrapped up, everyone was ready for what was next.

Then, Cavetown took the stage. They brought this super intimate, heartfelt energy that was so different from the first act, but it was absolutely perfect for the night. There was this warmth in the air as soon as they started playing— like everyone in the room was on the same wavelength. Their cover of “I’m Low on Gas” and “You Need a Jacket” (yes, a Pierce the Veil track!) was a surprise, but it was so well done and hit everyone right in the feels. Then, they played “Boys Will Be Bugs,” and the crowd was totally vibing. The whole set just felt super cozy and inclusive, like we were all part of something special. I’m sure the fans in the front were feeling it the most, but honestly, you could feel the connection from the whole crowd.

And then, of course, came the headliner— Mother Mother. They absolutely crushed it. From the start, you could tell they were ready to give us everything they had. “Hayloft?” Wild. I’ve heard that song a hundred times, but hearing it live, with the crowd screaming every word, was next-level. “Hayloft II” followed, and the energy in the room was insane. Their acoustic set was a refreshing change of pace.

Then they surprised us with a cover of “Video Games” by Lana Del Rey, and it was honestly a beautiful moment. The way they turned that song into something their own, while still capturing the dreamy, melancholic vibe, was amazing. It really showed their range as a band. By the time the set came to a close, you could tell that no one was ready to leave.
