A five-bill on a Wednesday night? Not for the faint of heart, but Born of Osiris and their national and international openers made it look easy.
First to take the stage was Lost in Separation from Dallas, TX. Full of energy, they definitely set the tone for the rest of the night. Following them was AXTY from Brazil. It was the first time I'd ever heard Brazilian metalcore and I certainly hope it won't be the last.
Next up was Entheos, who had way more than a few fans in the crowd. The female fronted group from Santa Cruz performed in nearly pitch black, which was another visual delight I hadn't experienced before. Their frontwoman mentioned that it'd been over 5 years since they'd been in Birmingham, but given the near deafening screams at the end of their set, I'm sure they're eager to add another show in the area as soon as possible.
The last group to take the stage before Born of Osiris was Within Destruction from Slovenia. I've got to applaud whoever made the decision to let two international acts join this touring bill. People were obsessed with their deathcore sound. Even their newer songs had people jumping up and down, screaming and yes, moshing of course.
Then, it was time for the headliner. It was a cold and rainy night in Birmingham the night of the show, but you never would've guessed it due to the amount of movement and action from the bands and the crowd in the pit. Born of Osiris played deep cuts, fan favorites and everything in between.
Sometimes a five-bill concert can drag on, but in this case, I found myself mourning the end of it and eagerly awaiting the next time they roll through Sweet Home Alabama.
