Oxymorrons opened up the night. Brothers Dave "D" Bellevue and Ashmy "KI" Bellevue started their set with a ton of energy, carried throughout their entire set, hyping up the crowd. After their set they jumped down off stage and greeted fans and handed out setlists.
Conquer Divide, coming straight off of a Euro tour and probably jet lagged from travel, contributed to their stage presence being off. On top of technical difficulties with not being able hear their music in their in-ears, they tried to continue but unfortunately it led to them only playing three songs.
Avatar put on an amazing show for the first night of The Great Metal Circus in Indianapolis, IN. Their drummer John Alfredsson was first to stage to start their set with “Dance Devil Dance,” with the rest of the band coming from behind the curtains to a dimly lit stage with a bunch of haze, song two of the night was “The Eagle Has Landed” which has a circus vibe and Johannes Eckerström does a dance waving his arms while holding his cain. After the third song, unfortunately someone got hurt in the crowd and Johannes stopped the show momentarily to make sure the person was ok. Ensuring safety of their fans only increased the sense of comradery of the crowd— still looking out for each other while having unified fun. Overall, the night was certainly one to remember; if you weren’t left sweating, you left with someone else’s sweat on you.
